Donald King (born August 20, 1931, Cleveland, Ohio) is a boxing promoter Don made a cameo appearance as himself in the episode of Roseanne titled "Roseambo", along with former Heavyweight Boxing Champion Mike Tyson and actor Steven Seagal in the series' final season. Amongst his TV acting appearances, Don made a memorable one as Don Cash, a flamboyant boxing promoter in the episode "Down For The Count (Part I)" of the 1984-1990 NBC-TV crime/drama series Miami Vice.

CareerEdit

King began his career promoting Muhammad Ali's first big bout, The Rumble In The Jungle, where Ali took the heavyweight title from George Foreman in Zaire in 1974, then in 1976 promoted the Thrilla in Manila where Ali fought his third bout against Joe Frazier. He also promoted numerous fights over the years from such stars as Roberto Duran, Alexis Arguello, Julio Cesar Chavez, Aaron Pryor, Mike Tyson, and Evander Holyfield. He only appeared as an actor two other times, one in the movie Head Office (with John Kapelos) and an episode of Knight Rider.

Personal LifeEdit

Early in his life, King was charged with bookmaking, then with killing two men in two different incidents, one which was considered self-defense, the other occurred in 1966 and King was sentenced to four years in prison for non-negligent manslaughter. There have also been lawsuits filed against King by Ali, Tyson, Tim Witherspoon, and Lennox Lewis, all have been settled either in or out of court. King's unique hairstyle has been copied numerous times on TV and in movies over the years.

King married his wife Henrietta and has three kids, daughter Debbie and sons Carl and Eric, and also has five grandchildren.
