Say It Ain't So was the 13th episode of Season 9 of Roseanne, also the 211th overall series episode. It was written by Nancy Steen, and was directed by Mark K. Samuels. It originally aired on ABC-TV on January 7, 1997.
Roseanne kicks Dan out over his affair with his mother's nurse, and her decision devastates her.
Jackie, having overheard Dan talking to his mother's nurse, confronts him and learns the two of them bonded while he was in California, although he did not sleep with her. She threatens to tell Roseanne if he doesn't; however, she soon becomes distracted when she learns Prince Carlos jilted her. Dan spends much of the episode wracked with guilt and confusion before he finally explains himself to Roseanne.
They then have a massive argument; although Dan takes responsibility and assures her he loves her, Roseanne orders him to leave the house. Meanwhile, DJ wants to do the filming for the birth of Darlene and David's baby; David is okay with it, but Darlene is repulsed. However, when DJ watches the film of another birth for practice, he faints repeatedly.
